Special Needs Sunday School

Our Special Needs Sunday School Program seeks to bring each and every child closer to Christ, regardless of learning, behavioral, physical or health differences. We recognize that not every child learns the same way, but that every child is special to God and deserves to be taught the message “Jesus loves me”! Our program offers several options to help every child maximize their Sunday School experience:
 

Loving Lambs: 9:30, room 118 (the aquarium room!)
The Loving Lambs class is designed just for children with special needs. Each Sunday, our class enjoys a musical performance, a short Christian message or Bible lesson, and a fun craft! This class is extremely flexible, and accommodates a wide range of abilities with a smaller teacher:student ratio. The Loving Lambs class is involved with all of the Children’s Ministries special events, such as the Palm Sunday children’s service, and other plays and performances.
 

Blessed Buddies: 9:30 and 11:00
For children with special needs who would like to attend their typical Sunday School class, the Blessed Buddies program is for you! We pair trained volunteers with children who may need a little extra help to succeed in class. Volunteers can help children understand the material, participate more fully in activities and foster positive interaction among peers.

In addition to these Sunday morning options, the Special Needs Sunday School Program is here to support children in every activity HPUMC has to offer! From Vacation Bible School to music programs, we’re there to make sure every child has the experience of a lifetime!

We are looking for volunteers who have the gifts of patience, love and creativity! You do not have to have prior experience working with children with special needs, just an open heart!
