C.A.R.E. - a new partnership

HPUMC is thrilled to announce a new partnership with C.A.R.E. (Chemical Awareness Resources and Education). In March of 2012, C.A.R.E. will relocate their offices from the Park Cities YMCA to the second floor of the HPUMC Biggers Building. C.A.R.E. is a community resource for anyone who has a concern, question or needs a confidential place to look for help.  C.A.R.E. works with families with substance abuse issues or who simply need support with parenting challenges. They also provide chemical awareness education to 38 public and private schools and other key organizations in our Dallas area.

We welcome Pam Blankenship as the newly appointed Executive Director. Additional  C.A.R.E. staff Terry Boyd and Dianne Melcher are working in the C.A.R.E. offices at HPUMC.  Board Members Anne Brock, Becky McCamey, Leslie Melson, Steve Schiff and Marsha Williamson have worked to make the move a reality in March of 2012.

Anne Brock, 2012 C.A.R.E. Chair says "We are deeply grateful for the opportunity given C.A.R.E. by Highland Park United Methodist Church to continue our outreach under their roof and I am personally so heartened by the way this has all fallen into place. Certainly not by coincidence, but surely by His grace, have our missions found renewed strength in one another.  What a blessing to be a part of!"

This service is provided by a team of nurses, friends and child care professionals who spend the evening caring for and working with these children. We even have special activities for siblings. The result is a chance for parents to enjoy a night out with friends and family, or a chance to tend to home needs without worry. If you are in need of our Night OWLS program, or would like to volunteer your time, call 214.523.2284. Find out more >
